Palaeothentes praecursor

Taxonomy
Callomenus praecursor was named by Loomis (1914). Its type specimen is AC 3020, a mandible (dentary with m2 (originally also p3 and m1)), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cabeza Blanca, which is in a Deseadan terrestrial shale/claystone in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina.

It was recombined as Palaeothentes praecursor by Patterson and Marshall (1978).
