Cornuodontidae was named by Stouge (1984). It is not extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Strachanognathidae by Dzik (1994).

It was assigned to Panderodontacea by Stouge (1984); and to Protopanderodontida by Pyle and Barnes (2002).

S. S. Stouge 1984Simple conodonts with relatively long and/or high bases and deep basal cavities. Longitudinal s triations , if present, are inconspicuous in early genera and increase in distinctiveness during evolu tion. Some forms have longitudinal costa. Some forms have denticles posteriorly on the base.
