Taxonomy
Pellasimnia maxwelli was named by Beu and Marshall (2011). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is south side of Bridge Point, south of Kakanui, South Otago, which is in a Runangan marine volcaniclastic in the Waiareka Volcanic Formation of New Zealand.
