Taxonomy
Cidarina cretacea was named by Squires and Saul (2003). Its type specimen is LACMIP 12958, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCR loc. 8388, Pinyon Ridge, which is in a Paleocene marine mudstone in the San Francisquito Formation of California.

Saul 2003Cidarina with flat spire whorls, convex body whorl, four to five nodose spiral cords on spire whorls and on body whorl posterior to strongest spiral cord at periphery, interspaces relatively wide with occasional single spiral thread, beaded and very closely spaced spiral threads on base of body whorl.
