---|---|---|
S. Hervet 2003 | "Autapomorphy: V1 with rounded lateral sulci, anteriorly convergent. Apomorphy: gulars on the entoplastron. Palaeoemys shows an oval to quadrangular shell, a size of 25 to 40 cm, a pleural disk backward condiform, a very weak notch at the anterior border (known in P. occitana n. sp., unknown in P. hessiaca). Palaeoemys differs from the other forms of the ‘Palaeochelys s.l. – Mauremys’
group by the following plesiomorphic characters: very poorly developed dorsal epiplastral lip, humeropectoral sulcus very concave and situated posterior to the entoplastron, very primitive suprapygals (wide SP1 and SP2 with rounded borders), hyoplastra long medially and narrow at the axillary notches (Long Hyo/Larg LA > 65%, Long Hyo/Larg Epi-Hyo = 78% to 97%)." |
