Heloderma texana
Taxonomy
Heloderma texana was named by Stevens (1977). Its type specimen is TMM 40635-123, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Castolon (TMM 40635), which is in a Harrisonian terrestrial horizon in the Delaho Formation of Texas.

Stevens 1977 | Heloderma texana differs from H matthewi of the middle Oligo- cene by its larger and more tuberculated osteoderms, osteoderms that are separated from each other by grooves, and by fewer maxillary teeth. Heloderma texana is distinguished from the living H. suspectum and H horridum by its much smaller size, and by its more pustulate osteoderms. |
