Taxonomy
Emys gaudryi was named by Depéret (1885). Its type specimen is Lectotype MNHN PER 75 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cavaillé Brickyard, which is in a Zanclean terrestrial horizon in France.
It was recombined as Clemmys gaudryi by Depéret and Donnezan (1890), Reinach (1900), De Stefano (1915), Bergounioux (1935) and Bergounioux (1936); it was recombined as Mauremys gaudryi by Broin (1977) and Hervet (2004).
