Taxonomy
Parkinsonia arietis was named by Wetzel (1911).

It was synonymized subjectively with Rarecostites radiatum by Besnosov and Mitta (1993); it was recombined as Parkinsonia (Parkinsonia) arietis by Dietze (2000).
