Cypraea davidi was named by Fontannes (1880) [Cypraea Davidi]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Eocypraea (Apiocypraea) davidi by Schilder (1925); it was recombined as Apiocypraea davidi by Landau and Fehse (2004).
