Calusacypraea duerri was named by Petuch (1996) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Pliocene; Florida.]. Its type specimen is UF 68249, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Siphocypraea duerri by Dolin (2015).
