Loxacypraea plumbea was named by Dolin (2015). Its type specimen is MNHN.F.A53683, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cabanes reef, Saint-Paul-les-Dax, Adour Valley, Landes, which is in a Burdigalian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in France.
