Taxonomy
Protetragonites zuegeli was named by Maisch and Salfinger-Maisch (2016). Its type specimen is GPIT/CE/Ly-001, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is Ortenberg, first abandoned quarry, which is in an Oxfordian shallow subtidal limestone in the Impressamergel Formation of Germany.
