Eulophoceras was named by Hyatt (1903) [Sepkoski's age data: K Coni-u K Camp-l]. Its type is Eulophoceras natalense.
It was assigned to Eulophoceratidae by Hyatt (1903); to Sphenodiscidae by Kennedy and Cobban (1994); to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Lenticeratinae by Wright (1952), Kennedy (1995), Wright et al. (1996) and Kennedy and Klinger (2012).
