Walliserodus was named by Serpagli (1967) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-l S Prid Sepkoski's reference number: 800]. Its type is Acodus curvatus.
It was assigned to Cornuodontidae by Stouge (1984); to Conodontophorida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Belodellidae by Sweet (1988), Pyle and Barnes (2002) and Waid and Cramer (2017).
