Taxonomy
Cypraea flavicula was named by Lamarck (1810).

It was recombined as Zonaria flavicula by Sacco (1894); it was recombined as Schilderia flavicula by Landau and Fehse (2004) and Brunetti and Vecchi (2015).

Synonyms
  • Cypraea elongata was named by Brocchi (1814) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Pliocene; Somalia, Mediterranean.]. It is not a trace fossil.

    It was recombined as Cypraea (Adusta) elongata by Cerulli-Irelli (1911); it was synonymized subjectively with Schilderia flavicula by Schilder (1941) and Dolin and Lozouet (2004).

M. M. Brunetti and G. Vecchi 2015Conchiglia di taglia media, globosa, allungata e ristretta nella parte anteriore. Dorso non molto convesso, privo di colorazione. Apertura stretta, anteriormente più espansa, posteriormente obliqua a sinistra. Labbro esterno munito di 30 dentelli, più sviluppati nella parte anteriore, più marcati di quelli columellari e separati da intervalli quasi uguali. Lato columellare con 21 dentelli poco elevati, piccoli, più marcati anteriormente, quasi obsoleti al centro e mancanti posteriormente, separati da intervalli quasi uguali. Fossula profonda, leggermente obliqua. Callo moderatamente esteso, leggermente rilevato nella parte mediana del labbro esterno.
