Phyllopachyceratinae was named by Collignon (1937).

It was synonymized subjectively with Phylloceratinae by Ward and Kennedy (1993) and Kennedy (1995).

It was assigned to Phylloceratidae by Collignon (1937), Reboulet (1996) and Murphy and Rodda (2006).
