Cypraeorbis vesicularis
Taxonomy
Cypraeorbis vesicularis was named by Dolin and Lozouet (2004). Its type specimen is MNHN-IM-2000-3675, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Espibos, Gaas, which is in a Rupelian carbonate marl/sandstone in the Calcaire à Astéries Formation of France.

L. Dolin and P. Lozouet 2004 | La coquille, solide, de grande taille, est ovolde, regulierement ampoulee de profil, a spire tres legerement saillante. La sole ventrale est regulierement convexe, I' angulation est legerement abattue et I' aire columellaire est convexe. Le canal siphonal, pro fond, forme un pontet a peine marque, annulaire, rehausse par rapport a la sole ventrale. Le pli terminal est puissant mais simple, arque, comme tabule, orientf adaxialement, relativcmcnt court et lC:ghen1ent declive. Il uutrepasse la lame interne trapue, spatulee. La fossula auriforme, relativement petite, est bordee, lisse et concave. La levre interne porte 20 denticules columellaires courts et puissants, restreints au premier mm de I' angulation. Le canal exhalant, canalicule mais court, est a peine ouvert adaxialement. La levre externe, a quart anterieur deprime, porte 24( + 5) denticules labraux puissants, bien developpes. |
