Taxonomy
Phenacovolva propheta was named by Dolin and Lozouet (2004). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Peyrère (=Peyrehorade) marls, which is in a Chattian estuary/bay marl in the Marnes de Saint-Etienne-d’Orthe Formation of France.

Lozouet 2004 | La coquille particulierement mince et fragile, possede une taille moyenne pour le genre (H. evaluee a enviran 20 mm) et une forme fuso"ide, tres allongee, cambree dorsalement. La spire est involuree. l:aire dorsale est tres finement striee longitudinalement. Le canal siphonal, peu profond et mal delimite, est demesurement allonge, formant un pontet semi-tubulaire, retrousse par rapport a la sole ventrale. Le pli terminal, long et droit, en cornet, est simple. La levre externe, amaigrie en son quart anterieur, mince et relativement rectiligne, est de section arrondie et uniformement lisse. |
