Taxonomy
Cypraea sphaeroides was named by Conrad (1848). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Vicksburg, which is in a Rupelian marine marl in the Byram Marl Formation of Mississippi.

It was recombined as Cypraeorbis sphaeroides by Conrad (1865), Harris and Palmer (1947) and MacNeil and Dockery (1984).
