Taxonomy
Hoplitoplacenticeras (Hoplitoplacenticeras) preyi was named by Kennedy and Summesberger (1999). Its type specimen is NHMWz1998/29/0013, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gschliefgraben, Gmunden, Late Campanian, which is in a Campanian offshore lime mudstone in Austria.
