Vicetia sowerbyi was named by Schilder (1930).

It was recombined as Gisortia (Vicetia) sowerbyi by Eames (1951).

Synonyms
  • Cypraea depressa was named by Sowerby (1839).

    It was recombined as Ovula depressa by Lemoine (1909); it was recombined as Gisortia depressa by Cotter (1921); it was recombined as Gisortia (Vicetia) depressa by Vredenburg (1927) and Heron (1937); it was replaced with Vicetia sowerbyi by Schilder (1930) and Schilder (1941).
