Taxonomy
Neurankylus torrejonensis was named by Lyson et al. (2016). Its type specimen is NMMNH P-9049, a partial skeleton (Fragmentary skeleton, including skull, lower jaws, shell, and associated postcranial elements), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is East Flank Torreon Wash (Upper), which is in a Torrejonian terrestrial claystone in the Nacimiento Formation of New Mexico.
