Phenacovolva gracilisiana

Taxonomy
Phenacovolva gracilisiana was named by Dolin and Lozouet (2004). Its type specimen is MNHN-IM-2000-3784, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Peyrère (=Peyrehorade) marls, which is in a Chattian estuary/bay marl in the Marnes de Saint-Etienne-d’Orthe Formation of France.

L. Dolin and P. Lozouet 2004La coquille de forme oblongue, regulierement acuminee a ses extremites, mince et fragile, devait etre d'une taille moyenne (evaluee a H.~ enviran 18 mm). La surface dorsale est trap alteree pour permettre les observations. La spire est involutee, les tours de la teleoconque etanr visibles apres le bris accidentel du dernier tour. r ouverture est relativement large. Le canal siphonal et le canal exhalant sont amputes. La levre interne a angulation totalement abattue est regulierement arrandie. La levre externe est legerement flexueuse, dejetee abaxialement en son tiers adapical ; elle forme un bourrelet de section arrondie, Ieghement marginC latCralcmcnt.
