Taxonomy
Cypraea nuculoides was named by Aldrich (1903). Its type specimen is USNM 639014, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Cypraeorbis nuculoides by Schilder (1927), Palmer (1937) and Palmer and Brann (1965).
