It was reranked as the subclass Arthrodira by Obruchev (1964).

It was assigned to Placodermi by Bryant (1932) and Denison (1975); and to Placodermi by Obruchev (1964), Straka and Semken (1969), Dineley and Metcalf (1999), Young (2010) and Young and Long (2014).
