Taxonomy
Cypraea (Cypraedia) subcancellata was named by Johnson (1899). Its type specimen is ANSP, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Smithville, which is in a Lutetian marine horizon in the Weches Formation of Texas.
It was recombined as Cypraedia subcancellata by Palmer and Brann (1965) and Perrilliat et al. (2003).
