Taxonomy
Nosmips aenigmaticus was named by Seiffert et al. (2010). Its type specimen is CGM 66002, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Birket Qarun 2, which is in a Priabonian channel sandstone in the Birket Qarun Formation of Egypt. It is the type species of Nosmips.
