Taxonomy

Dinichthys was named by Newberry (1873) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fras-m Sepkoski's reference number: 521].

It was assigned to Dinichthyinae by Hay (1902); to Arthrodira by Woodward (1891) and Sepkoski (2002); and to Dinichthyidae by Jordan (1963), Obruchev (1964), Denison (1978) and Carr and Hlavin (2010).
