Taxonomy
Furodon crocheti was named by Solé et al. (2014). Its type specimen is HGL 50-56, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gour Lazib HGL50, which is in a Ypresian/Lutetian terrestrial sandstone in the Glib Zegdou Formation of Algeria. It is the type species of Furodon.
