Taxonomy
Cypraea merriami was named by Ingram (1939). Its type specimen is USNM and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is North shore of Nancy's Cay (Isla Solarte), which is in a Piacenzian marine horizon in the Isla Solarte Formation of Panama.
It was recombined as Siphocypraea merriami by Schilder (1941).
