Taxonomy
Squatinactis was named by Lund and Zangerl (1974) [Sepkoski's age data: C Serp-l Sepkoski's reference number: 451]. It is not extant. Its type is Squatinactis caudispinatus.

It was assigned to Squatinactida by Zangerl (1981) and Sepkoski (2002); and to Squatinactidae by Ginter et al. (2010).
