Taxonomy
Glyptocrinus lacunosus was named by Billings (1857). It is not extant. It is the type species of Archaeocrinus.

It was recombined as Archaeocrinus lacunosus by Miller (1889), Wachsmuth and Springer (1897) and Cole et al. (2018).
