Taxonomy
Scaphella aegyptiaca was named by Wanner (1902). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bab-el Jasmund, Libyan Desert, which is in a Danian perireef or subreef limestone in Egypt.

It was recombined as Voluta (Scaphella) aegyptiaca by Oppenheim (1902).
