Dabasacanthus was named by Zangerl (1979) [Sepkoski's age data: C Mosc-u Sepkoski's reference number: 451]. It is not extant. Its type is Dabasacanthus inskasi.
It was assigned to Ctenacanthoidei by Zangerl (1979); to Hybodontoidea by Zangerl (1981); to Ctenacanthida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Lonchidiidae by Ginter et al. (2010).
