Taxonomy
Heosminthus minutus was named by Daxner-Höck (2001). Its type specimen is NHMW 2001z0033/0001/1, a set of teeth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hsanda Gol, section SHG-A/18-20, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial mudstone in the Hsanda Gol Formation of Mongolia.
It was recombined as Allosminthus minutus by Daxner-Höck et al. (2014).
