Vaughnictis smithae
Taxonomy
Mycterosaurus smithae was named by Lewis and Vaughn (1965). Its type specimen is MCZ 2985, a partial skeleton (partial skull, vertebrae + ribs, partial femur, partial tibia), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Placerville Localities 11-13, which is in a Wolfcamp fluvial-lacustrine siliciclastic/conglomerate in the Cutler Formation of Colorado.
It was recombined as Vaughnictis smithae by Brocklehurst et al. (2016).
