It was assigned to Carchariidae by Chapman and Cudmore (1924); to Galeidae by Jordan (1963); to Odontaspinae by Herman (1977); to Lamniformes by Sepkoski (2002); to Lamnidae by Ameghino (1901), Werner (1989), Kocsis (2007) and Szabo et al. (2017); and to Odontaspididae by Kent (2018).
