M. Konwert 2016Small slender teleost. Complete or almost complete interorbital septum present. Vomer and parasphenoid without dentition. Supraorbital sensory canal without or with few tubules. A triangular elongated premaxilla and a short maxilla. Hyomandibula vertical. Quadrate-mandibular joint below center of orbit or posterior. Guiar plate absent. Preopercular sensory canal with three to five short tubules in ventral arm. Interopercle as long as ventral limb of preopercle or slightly longer. Cleithrum with very long ventral arm forming an angle of about 90° or slightly more with dorsal one. Pelvic fin origin slightly posterior to dorsal fin origin. Neural spines of last caudal centra forming an angle of about 45° with dorsal margin of centra. Preural vertebrae with hemal arches laterally unfused to their centra. Neural spine of preural centrum 2 as long as neural spine of preural centrum 3. Five or six hypurals present. Three to five uroneurals present. Bases of uppermost principal caudal rays not crossing obliquely over upper hypurals. Principal caudal rays with narrow bases and slightly attached to hypurals and hemal spines. Elongated, narrow dorsal and ventral caudal scutes. One small, oval ‘urodermal.’
