Trochina was named by Cox and Knight (1960). It is extant.

It was reranked as the suborder Trochida by Nützel and Ketwetsuriya (2016); it was reranked as the order Trochida by Bouchet et al. (2017) and Schnetler et al. (2024).

It was assigned to Archaeogastropoda by Knight et al. (1960); to Vetigastropoda by Nützel and Ketwetsuriya (2016) and Wagner (2023); and to Vetigastropoda by Bouchet et al. (2017) and Schnetler et al. (2024).
