Taxonomy
Quercygale smithi was named by Solé (2014). Its type specimen is MNHN.F.Ma14839, a mandible (Left mandible bearing M1 and roots of M2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mancy, which is in a Ypresian terrestrial horizon in the Sables a Unios et Teredines Formation of France.
