Parahyracodon mongoliensis was named by Belyaeva (1952). Its type specimen is PIN 473-25, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Ardynia mongoliensis by Dashzeveg (1991) and Wang and Wang (1991).
