Levizygopleura trochus
Taxonomy
Pseudozygopleura (Pseudozygopleura) trochus was named by Knight (1930) [why is this now a clam?]. It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is SL-1. Headwaters of Feefee Creek, north of Olive St. & west of Lindberg Blvd., 1.5 km northwest of Stratmann (Olivette), which is in a Moscovian offshore shale in the Appanoose Formation of Missouri.
It was recombined as Eoptychia trochus by Hoare (1961) and Yochelson and Saunders (1967); it was recombined as Microptychis trochus by Kues and Batten (2001); it was recombined as Levizygopleura trochus by Bandel (2002) and Wagner (2023).
