Proterosuchus alexanderi

Taxonomy
Chasmatosaurus alexanderi was named by Hoffman (1965). Its type specimen is NM 1484/C. 3016, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Zeekoeigat, Venterstad, which is in an Induan/Olenekian terrestrial horizon in South Africa.

It was synonymized subjectively with Chasmatosaurus vanhoepeni by Cruickshank (1972) and Charig and Sues (1976); it was synonymized subjectively with Proterosuchus fergusi by Welman (1998) and Ezcurra et al. (2013); it was recombined as Proterosuchus alexanderi by Ezcurra and Butler (2015) and Ezcurra (2016).
