Taxonomy
Proviverra eisenmanni was named by Godinot (1981). Its type specimen is MNHN.F.RI400, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Rians, which is in an Eocene terrestrial horizon in the Lignites de Soissonais Formation of France. It is the type species of Eoproviverra.
It was recombined as Eoproviverra eisenmanni by Solé et al. (2014).
