Taxonomy
Choeropotamus parisiensis was named by Cuvier (1822). Its type specimen is MNHN GY 283, a partial skull (skull with upper right P1, P3-M3 and upper left P1, P2, P4-M3), and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Chaeropotamus.
