Taxonomy
Peltis antehercynica was named by Kolibáč et al. (2016). Its type specimen is RE 551.782.200 A 0083, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Willershausen clay pit (Ruhr Museum Essen collection), which is in a Piacenzian pond marl in Germany.
