Stylocyclia was named by Ehrenberg (1847) [Disc of the test in the median part nucleate, with a cellular margin. Lobate or radiating (stellate).]. It is extant. Its type is Stylocyclia dimidiata. It was considered monophyletic by Ehrenberg (1847).

It was assigned to Coccodiscidae by Ehrenberg (1847).
