Taxonomy
Subdiscosphinctes hachiyai was named by Sato and Yamada (2014). Its type specimen is NMNS PM23925, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is AR0021, Kami-uwabamidani Valley, which is in an Oxfordian marine siltstone in the Arimine Formation of Japan.
