Taxonomy
Ammonites leptonema was named by Sharpe (1855) [DISTRIBUTION: Cenomanian; Europe, Greenland.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Gaudryceras (Mesogaudryceras) leptonema by Wright and Kennedy (1984) and Kennedy (1994); it was recombined as Mesogaudryceras leptonema by Arkadiev et al. (2000).
