Ammonites elimatus was named by Oppel (1870) [DISTRIBUTION: Tithonian; Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Haploceras elimatus by Avram and Gradinaru (1993) and Wright et al. (1996); it was recombined as Haploceras (Haploceras) elimatum by Zeiss et al. (1994); it was synonymized subjectively with Haploceras (Haploceras) carachtheis by Grigore (2018); it was recombined as Haploceras elimatum by Verma and Westermann (1973), Schlegelmilch (1994), Arkadiev et al. (2000) and Vašíček et al. (2023).
